Toketee Falls is a sight to see, but unless you're from the area, it can be quite the drive for such a short hike. Fortunately, there are plenty of great camping spots not too far from the falls to turn this sightseeing trip into a full-on adventure.

Boulder Flat was our favorite of the campgrounds along 138. For one, it opens earlier than the others, making it one of the only places to camp in early spring. It is also offers more privacy than sites at the other campgrounds and is on a beautiful stretch of the river, where Boulder Creek meets the North Umpqua River. But the biggest highlight is that it's just a short 6-mile/7-minute drive to the trailhead to Toketee Falls, Toketee Lake and the Umpqua Hot Springs.

This is a great area to catch trout (fly angling only) or just hang out. The moss-covered trees provide full shade to most of the campsites, keeping it pretty cool. The campground has vault toilets and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. There is also a developed launch site here if you're into rafting.

Note: There is no water at the campground (besides the river). The nearest place to get water is the Idleyld Trading Post. There is also no AT&T cell coverage and minimal Verizon.

Boulder Flat Campground is $10/night self pay ($5 extra for each additional vehicle). For more information, visit the campground website here.
