We've made it through California and are finally in the Pacific Northwest. Here we find ourselves at Smith Rock State Park, where we conquer the aptly named Misery Ridge Trail.
You wouldn't think we'd need a break from this extended vacation, but a life of adventure can be taxing. We got in a little R&R at the Calpine Fire Lookout, then spent a weekday at Burney's.
Although we only got to spend one rainy night in this magical place, we definitely plan on coming back (sans dogs) to explore the backcountry.
Big Sur is a Big Deal. If we could get cell reception, we probably would have never left this picturesque coastal town.
This blog is dedicated to Buff, who is in a better place now. Rest easy, little buddy.
We found the desert heat to be just a tad unbearable, but fortunately we found some great places to cool off.
We flirted with the Utah-Arizona border while exploring Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, Buckskin Gulch and....a local Mexican restaurant.
From the snowcapped Rockies to beautiful red rock canyons, we traveled to Utah for some warmer adventures.
Though not our original plan, we've been on a wilderness hiatus through the Midwest and Colorado.
We had a nice respite from the woods while in Savannah, Georgia, but we couldn't avoid mother nature's charms for too long...
We made our way out of the forest and headed to Amelia Island for a little fun in the sun...and near-freezing temps.
How we determined the cost of life on the road...and how our estimates measure up.
Our first exciting adventure was diving the French Reef off Key Largo, Florida. It was chock full of sunshine, sharks and...seasickness.
